Sustainability & Environmental Responsibility Committee

SERC consists of a Chairperson, appointed by the President and any interested graduate student. As needed, the chair consults with members who serve on the Council for the Physical Environment (COPE).

SERC ensures that all CGS events are used to promote the concepts of sustainability in some way.

For 2007-2008 the SERC is hereby charged with the following:

• Facilitate the timely selection & appointment of the aforementioned committee members.
• Collaborate with Facilities and Operations Development (FOD), Undergraduate Student Government (USG), the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and local waste management authority to establish a mercury recycling program to address the increasing use of Compact Florescent Lighting in Central Ohio.
• Investigate the feasibility of creating a "Brighter, Smarter" campaign to incorporate the use of CFL lighting in University Housing.
