CGS Ray Award Application
Please be sure to review the Eligibility Guidelines before beginning an application.
A Ray Award Application consists of three parts:
- Steps 1-3: Basic biographical/financial information necessary for administering the fund. Nothing in these parts is used to score your application.
- Steps 4-7: Open-ended questions designed to challenge applicants to think about themselves, their research and their professional goals. There are no "right answers" to these questions; as such, these questions are scored primarily on the basis of clarity and completeness. We regret that we cannot provide additional guidance on how to answer these questions.
- Step 8: Recommendation. You will select a faculty member to provide a recommendation for your application. As part of the application process, that faculty member will be sent an email with instructions for submitting the recommendation.
You may complete the application over as many days you need -- partial applications will remain on the server throughout the application period -- but the application must be finalized (step 9) by the deadline: Wednesday, April 16 or the date your conference begins, whichever is earlier.
Technical Notes
This site has been extensively tested with Internet Explorer 6, Mozilla 1.4b, and Netscape 7.1; other browsers may work as well. You (or your system administrator) must not have turned off javascript or cookies for this site to function properly.
If you encounter problems, please consider trying a computer in a different location (e.g. a departmental lab, an OSU public lab, a personal computer) to see if the problem goes away.
If you receive any error messages from this site regarding "script errors" or "internal server errors", please copy them in their entirety and email them to the CGS office.
To conserve server resources and ensure reasonable response times to all users, you will be automatically logged out after 20 minutes of inactivity. We therefore recommend that you compose your answers to the open-ended questions in another program (Word, Notepad) before beginning this application. You can then copy-and-paste them into the appropriate locations on this application.
Email any questions or difficulties you have with the site to the CGS office.

All correspondence regarding your application (for instance, if we find a problem with your application, or when we notify you of your results) will be sent to the corresponding email address, so it is important that you read your official OSU email on a regular basis.
