2015 Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure Road Closures & Information

Please see below an important announcement from Paving the Way regarding street closures and other information related to the 2015 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

The 2015 Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure will take place tomorrow, Saturday, May 16, in and around Downtown Columbus.  Several reminders:

·        Motorists in the area are asked to be alert for heavy bicycle and pedestrian traffic before, during, and after the race.

·        Expect rolling closures along the race routes, especially near the beginning of each course. Police will be on duty at affected intersections to allow traffic to cross routes when and if possible.  

·        The race is expected to be finished by about 1 p.m. on Saturday. 

The following road closures will occur before and during the event: 

Tonight at 6 p.m., through tomorrow (Saturday) at approximately 3 p.m.

·         East Broad Street between High Street and Third Street will be closed

Saturday at 5 a.m., the following will close:

·         North Front Street between West Broad Street and West Spring Street (closed through about Noon on Saturday)

·         High Street between Town Street and Broad Street (Closed through about 2 p.m. on Saturday)

Saturday, from about 8:15 a.m. to about 1 p.m.

·         Rolling closures along the course routes (see below)

Start Times for the different events on Saturday:

·         7:00 a.m.  Expo Starts on East Broad Street at the Statehouse

·         8:45 a.m.  5K’s Start

·         9:30 a.m.  Family Fun Walk Starts

Race Routes

5K Races/Walks Course will begin on North Front Street, immediately north of West Gay Street, and will following the following route:

1.           Northbound on North Front Street to West Spring Street

2.          Eastbound on West Spring Street to High Street

3.          Northbound on North High to West Goodale Street

4.          Westbound on Goodale Street to Park Street

5.          Southbound on Park Street/Front Street to West Nationwide Boulevard

6.          Westbound on West Nationwide Boulevard to Neil Avenue

7.          Southbound on Neil Avenue to West Long Street

8.          Eastbound on West Long Street to Marconi Boulevard

9.          Southbound on Marconi Boulevard to West Broad Street

10.     Westbound on West Broad Street to Belle  Street

11.     Southbound on Belle Street to West Town Street 

12.     Eastbound on West Town Street and across the Rich Street Bridge to West Rich Street

13.     Continues on West Rich Street to South High Street

14.     Northbound on High Street to the finish line at the Columbus Commons 

One Mile Fun Walk Course will begin on North Front Street, immediately north of West Gay Street, and will following the following route:

1.          Northbound on North Front Street to West Long Street 

2.          Westbound on West Long Street to Marconi Boulevard

3.          Southbound on Marconi Boulevard to West Broad Street

4.          Westbound on West Broad Street to Belle  Street

5.          Southbound on Belle Street to West Town Street 

6.          Eastbound on West Town Street and across the Rich Street Bridge to West Rich Street

7.          Continues on West Rich Street to South High Street

8.          Northbound on High Street to the finish line at the Columbus Commons 

Participants should arrive early and plan for some delays.  Spectators and participants should consider using COTA or carpooling to help with parking.
