The Hayes Forum Presents: Jorge Cham

The 2015 Edward F. Hayes Graduate Research Forum is proud to present special guest Jorge Cham.

Jorge Cham is the creator of Piled Higher and Deeper (PHD Comics), the popular comic strip about life (or the lack thereof) in Academia. He is also the co-founder of PHD TV, a video science and discovery outreach collaborative, and a founding board member of Endeavor College Prep, a non-profit school for kids from disadvantaged communities in East Los Angeles.

Jorge will be giving two presentations related to this year's Hayes Forum.  First, as a grand kick-off to the Forum, Jorge will speak on Thursday, February 19th, at 7:00 in the Performance Hall in the Ohio Union.  This event is open to all OSU graduate students, faculty, and staff.  Doors open at 6:30 and seating is first-come, first-served.

In his lecture, Jorge Cham recounts his experiences bringing humor into the lives of millions of stressed out academics and tells stories from his travels to over 300 universities and research centers in the US and across
the world. Thought-provoking yet humorous, Jorge Cham's talk examines the source of academics' anxieties, explores the myth of procrastination, and helps academics figure out how to convey what they've learned to the
outside world.

A book signing will follow this presentation.

Jorge will also speak on Friday, February 20 at the Hayes Forum plenary talk at 12:10 in the US Bank Conference Theater at the Ohio Union.  Doors open at 11:30.  This second presentation is also open to all OSU graduate students, faculty, and staff, but Hayes Forum participants will be given seating priority.
