Andy Vance (Vance.128)

Andy Vance is a Ph.D. student in Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership (ACEL), focused on the study of nonprofit leadership and organizational effectiveness. In addition to his graduate studies, Andy is Executive Director of the Poultry Science Association (PSA), a professional scientific society serving more than 1,850 members, including educators, scientists, extension specialists, industry researchers, administrators, producers, and university students.

Prior to becoming an association management executive, Andy worked for nearly two decades as an agribusiness journalist in broadcast, print, and digital trade media covering Ohio agriculture and the global animal feed and livestock sectors. In addition to his duties at PSA, he continues to provide weekly agriculture analysis for Spectrum News One, the statewide cable news network.

Andy earned his B.S. in Agricultural Communications at Ohio State, as well as an M.S. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He is President of the CFAES Alumni Society Board of Directors, President of the Friends of the Bexley Public Library, Secretary of the Buckeye Samoyed Club, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Central Ohio Kennel Club.

Andy resides in Bexley with his wife, daughter, and their pack of dogs. The family is actively involved in American Kennel Club conformation shows, and their Norwegian Elkhounds won Best of Breed three years in a row at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City.

Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Assist the executive officers as directed by the President of CGS
  • Serve as a non-voting member of the executive committee
  • Maintain order and adherence to Robert's Rules during delegate meetings
  • To assist in reviewing and revising the Constitution, Bylaws, and Standing Rules
